If walls could talk this home would tell us a story from 1910, when the Knudson family purchased the ranch. Their original home, which sat over behind the red barn, must have disappeared in the years following their move into the current ranch house. The original photo that shows the "old" part of the ranch house is from 1920. The Knudson families were part of the Norwegian immigrant community that is still centered around Cranfills Gap and Clifton area. The original ranch house built in 1920 sat along side of the road next to the front gate. In 2004 the current Sellers moved the old house to its present location overlooking the vast lake, and added another 2400 sq. ft. to the home to create and architectural gem of 3400 sq. ft.
This "New-Old" house was designed and decorated to reflect the look and feel of a fine Texas Ranch house from the 1940's. The downstairs area features stained wood ceilings that add a warm glow to the rooms. There are 4 bedrooms/ 3 full bathrooms and 3 living areas. Each of the bedrooms has a distinct character and the house offers a lovely library as well. The main living room, kitchen and large dining room have an open concept style with a wood-burning fireplace anchoring the living room. (In 2020 the Seller made some upgrades:New roof, new exterior/interior paint, new carpet, new plantation shutters in bedrooms, new appliances, remodeled bathrooms and added a new master bath, new bar area with icemaker, wine refrigerator and drink refrigerator, new tankless water heater, new well tank.)
The exterior of the home has a wrap-around porch offering a cool spot of shade for sitting on the porch swings, overlooking the lake and surrounding Bosque & Hamilton County hills. In the evenings enjoy dinner in the wood pergola or gather around the firepit overlooking the lake.
The property also has a 2-car carport, and the original 900 sq. ft. barn that has a media room downstairs with ice machine, workshop and an upstairs guest quarters with full bath.
The land has an 11-Acre lake, (3) tanks, .75 miles of creek that spans across the property and space for a potential 2000 ft. airstrip. There is a variety of terrain and hardwoods on the ranch, which makes it a haven for wildlife. The back northeast corner of the property offers some beautiful elevation changes with the highest point on the property reaching 1160 ft. above sea level.
